As usual, spoilers. We should probably put it at the top or something, save us some effort, but whatever.
So we started Hell Girl the other night, got maybe two episodes in. I thought it was pretty neat, but there was discontent amongst the party. Mainly, "is it gonna be the same thing every episode?" Granted, we're only two episodes in, but doing the same thing twice in a row does not grant any favors.
The show isn't shaping up to have any 'main' character(s), and is instead opting to doing a small story arc for each episode. As long as they can manage to keep the story fresh enough, I think it's quite enjoyable, and plan to continue watching as things stand. I hardly ever remember a character's name unless I have a good reason to (Roberto, Takano, Pino), so the fact that I'm not even sure these characters have names works out perfectly.
It's got things I like, that I don't see enough of. Psychological trauma, righteous punishment, a touch of horror. But then, there are those other things. Condemning yourself to Hell to suffer for eternity sounds like a bad trade for one major nuisance in a lifetime. Just once I wanna see someone agree before hearing the conditions.
Also, the second lady got totally ripped off. She only condemned one guy, the first got three for the price of one. What a friggin' jip.
